FAQs

What is a homeschool co-op?

A homeschool co-op is a group of homeschooling families who come together to share resources, teach classes, and support each other in the homeschooling journey. It provides a structured environment for both parents and children to collaborate, learn, and grow together.

We are not a homeschool association or a drop-off co-op; instead, we thrive on active parental involvement and shared educational experiences.

How can I join the co-op?

To become a member of our co-op, please complete the application form available on our website.

What services do you offer?

We offer a variety of services to enhance the homeschooling experience for both parents and children, including collaborative classes, field trips, activities, and parental support.

How often do you meet?

Meeting schedules can vary, but most of the time we meet once a week for either a class, field trip, event, or get together. Depending on the age range or your children, most classes will take place on either a Monday (4th Grade and Up) or Thursday (All Ages). You will receive a schedule after you join.

What types of classes are offered?

Classes can range from core subjects like math, science, and language arts to electives such as art, music, and physical education. Each semester is based on the interests and expertise of the parent-teachers who volunteer to teach and assist.

What is expected of Parents?

Parental involvement is crucial in a homeschool co-op. Parents are expected to either teach or assist in classes, help with organizing activities and events, and contribute to the overall functioning and administration of the co-op. Don't worry, we will not make you do anything you don't want to do. If you are able to teach, teach. If you are able to help clean, clean. If you are able to purchase supplies or donate money, that is an option as well. The success of a co-op depends on everyone doing a little to make it work.

Is there a cost to join?

Overall, we are a free co-op. However, we do accept donations for supplies and will provide a supply list that you can volunteer to help purchase from. Sometimes, a class will have a cost or supply list that you can take into consideration before signing up for that class.

Can I join in I am completely new to homeschooling?

Absolutely! Homeschool co-ops are a great way for new homeschoolers to receive support, resources, and community as they begin their homeschooling journey. We do not force new families to volunteer for things. However, after the first semester of joining, you will be required to help out somewhere (teach, assist, clean, donate, plan a field trip or party, etc.)

What benefits do children get from participating in a co-op?

Children benefit from social interaction with peers, exposure to different teaching styles, access to a wider range of educational resources, and opportunities for group activities and field trips.

Can we participate in more than one co-op?

Yes, families can choose to participate in multiple co-ops if they wish to access a broader range of classes and activities. However, it’s important to manage commitments to ensure you can fulfill your responsibilities to each co-op.
